PERSONALIZE THE EXPERIENCE The easiest thing you can do to make a significant impact on a boudoir client is to personalize their experience. When you talk to them on the phone, use their first name, not a pet name like “hun” or “babe.” Refer back to your notes from your phone consultation and use that while they are getting hair and makeup done. Remind them why they wanted the session—how excited they are that they lost 40 pounds, whatever it is—and show them you made an effort to get to know them and remember!

There are three other small things we do with each client to make sure they feel our love.

First, we put their name on a light board before their session and place it in an area where they won’t miss it. They always comment on this and take a picture to share with friends. Secondly, we ask what their favorite non-alcoholic beverage is. I don’t care if it is some crazy drink from Starbucks, bubble tea, or water. We have whatever they want sitting next to the sign when they come in. I take a few minutes out of my day to stop and get their drink. It’s small, but it goes a long way. Finally, we take Instax selfies with every client after our shoot. One for us and one for them to keep! We hype up our client wall and are excited to get them added to it. We ask them to sign the image before it goes on our wall.
