POSING TO ENHANCE THE BODY FIGURE AND MINIMIZE FLAWS
Photographing hundreds of pregnant women over the last few years has allowed me to notice the posing details that really help to improve the silhouette of my clients, and at the end of the day, really make a difference in the final outcome of the portrait.
Showing your client the pose you want to achieve by doing it yourself first and asking her to mirror you is very effective. This also gives you a sense of what it feels like to actually do that pose and connect more with your client and what she is experiencing and going through while trying to satisfy your requests.
As weight gain is part of the journey, it is important to direct your client and ask her to push her chin forward in order to stretch it and avoid double chin. This might feel a bit unnatural at first, but it makes such a huge difference in every pose and it’s even more essential when taking profile/side shots.
