A Guide to Getting Started as a Travel Photographer | Kenny Kim

As a destination wedding photographer, your portfolio needs to show the kind of images you want to capture for your clients. Obviously, when you’re just starting out this is not possible, since you haven’t worked in those places yet. So when you plan a trip to go to your dream location, make it a point to organize a styled shoot to build your portfolio there. This will be a perfect opportunity to connect with local vendors to collaborate on a project together. It’s a win-win situation for everyone. This is a great portfolio-building and networking opportunity. Thanks to social media, it’s much easier to find a creative team to work with along with models (or real-life couples you might meet during your trip). You can also use the hashtag feature on your social media to find and build the right type of team you want to work with.
