Using the masking slider while holding Option lets you see exactly where I applied the effect in white and where it’s masked out in black. The further right we drag this, the more the middle areas of the face are affected. (fig. 9) I typically leave this at 0, but in this case we can move to 40 since it will reduce our local masking later. (fig. 10) Let’s move to step 2 and the local masking tools.
